At 3:00 p.m. local time on April 28, Liberia, the commencement ceremony of the office building project of the government of Liberia aided by the Chinese government and the Jiangsu Construction Group was held in Monrovia, Liberia. H. E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia, min.w. Gyude Moore, Minister of engineering of the Republic of Liberia, Zhang Yue, Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Liberia, and Jiangsu provincial construction project participants attended the ceremony.
The commencement ceremony was presided over by the Protocol Department of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Liberia. Teachers and students of Confucius Institute in Liberia kicked off the ceremony with a performance of "drum music and joy". The program content and happy music full of Chinese characteristics adjust the atmosphere of the whole audience to be both happy and lively.
At the ceremony, Hon. Claude E. Langley, Deputy Minister of engineering of the Republic of Liberia, made a brief introduction to the overall layout of the office building project of the government of Liberia. Subsequently, H. E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia, delivered a speech. He said that the friendship between China and Liberia has a long history. On behalf of the government of Liberia, he thanked China for its contribution to the construction and development of Liberia and expressed his best wishes for the smooth development of the office building project of the government of Liberia.
In the warm applause and happy music, H. E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia, min.w. Gyude Moore, Minister of engineering of the Republic of Liberia, Zhang Yue, Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Liberia, and Gao Yuanming, project director of Jiangsu provincial construction, jointly built the foundation, symbolizing the smooth commencement of the office building project of the government of Liberia.
At the end of the ceremony, Gao Yuanming, the representative of the project team of the government of Liberia assistance, presented a gift to the president of Liberia, wishing the friendship between China and Liberia last forever.
The office building project of the government of Liberia is located in Monrovia, the capital of Liberia. After the completion of the project, it will accommodate five government departments in Liberia, with a total of 1300 people working at the same time. The project building includes office, meeting room, report hall, multi-functional hall, archives room, dining room, power transformation and distribution room and other auxiliary facilities. The total construction area of the project is 24154.36 square meters. The project is expected to be completed in April 2019.
